i just finished threading a warp for an 8 shaft wool blanket in twill double weave.... 1,116 threads of tuna wool.

i came to the end of the threading (what will be the middle of the blanket when i take it off the loom) and i only have 4 threads left.

do i just thread those last 4 threads 8-5? do i need to rethread it so the other end of the blanket has the uneven number or doesn't it matter?

also, the pattern is stripped and some of the stripes end on every 4th shaft and not evenly on the 8. will this make a difference to how the stripes look when i weave it?

any thoughts

had an answer for you but I am not very knowledgeable with double weave - but I love your colors and the stripe pattern!

On my web page, I describe (what I think of as) a fool-proof way to determine how to handle folds - here. Whether your stripes will come out as you want depends on two things: 1) (obviously) what you want and 2) how you organize your layers. If the layers are formed on every other shaft, the stripe can end on shaft 4 and be "correct" (symmetrical) - if not, the stripe will probably be different on the halves. (The weaving police will not arrest you of the right-hand stripes are, say, 4 ends while the left-hand stripes are, say, 2 ends)

Hope this helps!
