Hello Everyone!

I am about to become the owner of my first loom. I have a question that every book and website presumes I should already know. What is meant by the three or four ends in Bolck weaving? Surely not the e.p.i.?  Is it the tie up? The treadling? Much of the knowledge a new weaver needs and wants to acquire is hidden by the vastly inaccurate assumption that "everyone knows that" As soon as someone is kind enough to share what 'everyone' knows, then I will know too. Thank you.

Hi Robert,

A three end block weave would be threaded:

1,2,3 for one block, and

1,2,4 for the second block.

So, yes, it is the number of ends in the threading repeat.  Study Peter Collingwoods first book and you will understand this very thoroughly.
