Hi all,

I am new to weaving and recently purchased an inkle loom. I cannot figure out how to warp it as there are two tension bars, one in the front and another in the middle. Had to get it anyway as the price was right ($15) and it was available right around the corner from my house. Here is a picture. No idea on make. Seller bought from someone else on ebay. I looked but cannot find one of similar design. :-/

This looks a bit odd, but probably can be warped. First get a book that shows how an inkle loom is warped (the Inkle Pattern Dictionary from Interweave Press makes a good start). It won't give you much length the way it is made, but I think you can consider that adjustable bar in the middle as just another dowel.

Price doesn't always determine a good piece of equipment - you'll "spend" far more than that purchase price taking the time to try a loom that has design issues and is "odd".

For the first warp, I'd simply remove that adjustable bar in the middle.

These instructions from Schacht are very good:  http://www.schachtspindle.com/instructions/weaving/inkle-loom-weaving.pdf

I would *not* remove the adjustable bar. Typically when weaving, that bar needs to be adjusted as the length of the band changes. Especially with an unconventional piece of equipment, I would not make modifications before trying it the way it is intended to be used.
