My Corner Of The World - November 2013 Because of the popularity of this thread, we'll start a new thread each month! The idea is to tell us what is going on in your corner of the world. It does not have to be weaving related, but it could be. Feel free to tell us about holidays in your country, whether it is religious, or Independence day, or commemoration days. Please include a picture when you add your post. Weavers are very visual people. Please remember to downsize your photo before uploading. Be sure to tell us where you are (city, state/province, country?) This forum has members internationally. Have a good day! Last month: http://www.weavolution.com/forum/chat/my-corner-world-nov-2013-27662

I couldn't resist using this quote. It hasn't quite decided to be winter in Suffolk, England yet. The entire family spent quite a bit of time in the weaving studio over the holidays. It looks much better and Oliver and I made great progress towards getting the drawloom attachement on the loom! I have wound 1/8" of warp for my first damask sampler.

Wish me luck!

This dog is on its way to California State Capital to contribute to the Toys For Tots collection. Thousands of bikers converged on the Capital to donate Christmas toys for needy families. This is the 37th annual run. A video has been uploaded to youtube

Back in the studio much more frequently now. Finished the rep-warp placemats, finally. Have the linen warp for the door curtain wound, threaded, sleyed and tied. Actual weaving looms. (sorry...) And the scarves on the small drawloom---- they've been waiting all summer. Again, bring on the bleak mid-winter.

Moon and Venus dominate the sky at sunset today and tomorrow. Check it out! Have a good day!

a little sleet - and a cold north wind - so far not too bad here but just north of us is getting hit hard with sleet, ice, etc. Be careful out there all you folks in the central and south central part of the US - winter is here

Yesterday evening I participated in a baking session at the glassworks! We were using the annealing oven (I think it is called - where the new-blown glass is slowly cooled?), which had cooled for some hours after the glass-blowers had gone home.

More pictures on my Swedish blog.

rare wintery day here in Central Texas - a brisk 23 degrees with a wind chill of 10 and what passes for snow in this part of Texas - they really do not know what snow and cold is down here! Think I will have a fire after I get home from my knitting bee and grocery shopping!

and wet here today in Central Texas - a good evening to build a fire in the fireplace and work on some fiber related projects!

Kerstin,

I wonder what Santa thinks about hauling those presents you posted? (They look a bit heavy to me!)

In my corner of the world (Iowa), it was -13 below zero (fahrenheit) two days ago, with wind chill making it even colder. Today is a heat wave, warming up to the 20's.

Here in Australia it's Boxing Day - the day after Christmas Day and a fairly random public holiday.  It's going to by 29, that's Celsius, so around 84 Farenheit with a cool breeze from the middle of the day.  I don't have to work today so my plan is to tidy up the last of the Christmas mess then go to the double garage where my big Toika loom lives, in one half alongside the car,  open the big roller door and weave in the cool breeze for the rest of the day

That's what it's like here in the Southern Hemisphere - Best wishes to all

Sally, they are still there. Either they were too heavy, or the lack of proper addresses made them impossible to deliver :-)

Two ships Port of Sacramento

Here is two of the ships docked at the inland Port Of Sacramento. There is a big ditch (deep water channel) that allows ships to come from the San Francisco Bay, up the river to deliver goods and load up with rice and other goods before sailing out again. West Sacramento, Calif.
