has anyone tried this? I began my fibre obsession via knitting machines and have quite a few ribber combs of various gauges. They look like raddles and i am wondering maybe i could use them as such. I bought a 4 shaft table loom 70 cm for a few euro on the net and have cleaned it derusted it and replaced the string heddles with texsolv. now i am looking around my workspace for bits and pieces to improvise tools,.any thoughts?

I think you could; you could use the wire as the keeper. The only problem could be that the amount of weight that I use to put a warp on my floor looms would bend it. You may not need that much weight to warp a table loom. You might be happier making yourself a raddle than risk bending your comb.

I would imagine that since we can make raddles simply by putting nails in a board at regular distances, using your ribber combs would work to. I know absolutely nothing about what the ribber combs are made of or what they look like. As Big White Sofa Dog pointed out, you will want to keep a eye on the ribber comb to make sure you don't damage it. Let us know how it works!

I would not use it.  Both the bottom and sides of 'slots' are sharp metal and it will abrade your yarn if not cut it. You can take a file and round everything, but it is much faster to take a strip of wood and bang in some finishing nails.

I agree it's not a good choice.  If it was a situation where I really have to do this right now, and this is what I have, it could work, but it's not a good long term solution.
