The loom pic in the siggy is an old barn loom, upper beater, that I got a couple of years back. I took this pic where it was before we got it. It's in pieces now, made it easier to get home. Quite heavy! How should I clean this up? I don't want to warp the wood. Thankyou and happy to be here!

Hi,

I'm a Buckeye!  I am located in the Cincinnati area.  I have been weaving for 27 years.  I am currently waiting on replacement parts or a new Louet David loom.  Once the loom is complete, I will put on a sampler/scarf warp in 8 shaft crackle.  I was inspired by a Susan Wilson workshop that the Cincy Guild had earlier in the spring.

Hi!  I have been weaving since the 70's and still love every minute of it.  I do not drive at night anymore so do not get to guild meetings and like the idea of being able to keep in touch with what is going on in the weaving world.

I love old traditional patterns and fine threads . I have a old sears loom that I bought second hand but use my Baby Wolf or my Dorothy Table loom most of the time now.

I've taught most of my grandchildren to weave and still work with the handicaped; weaving rugs and mug rugs .

Hope this group grows as I miss sharing with weavers.

HiTerry!  What a find!!  The old looms are big and heavy but such a joy!!  Think I would probably use Murphy's oil soap and rub it down good. Will probably lighten some but don't think it will hurt the old original look . Can't wait to  hear how it operates. These old looms have  personalility!!

Enjoy!! Mary

Hi Mary. I think I'm going to clean it up and sell it. I don't want to mess with 4 harness right now and could use the money. Hubby was let go last year after 19 yrs. of loyal service, so selling it makes more sense. I do love my union 36. I learned on one.

I am looking for a tension box if anyone has one to sell, trade {I do leather work too}, or whatever.

Thanks, Terry
