Semi success! mac working with the Megado - this is a mac OS issue not Megado.  Took several steps but fcan maintain connection for a good amount of time.  Contact me if you also have an issue.

(I cannot get my mac with mac PCW to communicate with my Megado loom, I just got the mac drivers and the program is sluggish and says it can find the port but cannot open it.  Any Megado users - what do you use?)

Is there a firewall on your system that might be blocking the port?

I've used Mac years ago, but not the new machines. I do a lot of GPS mapping with a Windows Mobile GIS program. And GIS pretty much requires a PC. I measure over 2000 acres of forest land perimeter a year with my GPS. Sorry for the bla bla bla, hope you get it solved.

Nope - no firewall, no energy saver/screen saver - finally can stay connected as long as I don't allow the loom to go to sleep.

I wonder if it works like in suspension on my GPS. If it goes into suspension and the screen is shut down the connection is lost via Activesync. There my be no way around that other than keeping the loom alive. :)

As long as I keep trucking I can stay weaving.  If I stop and the loom sleeps I have to exit the software and sometimes the box has to be restarted,  but significant progress!  It will only work with one particular weave software, the other just crashes as soon as I connect the usb to the computer.  Going back to an old IBM and pc version software which is very reliable! Please note this is with Mountain Lion for mac - I hear snow leopard works just fine.
