I found a 36" 4shaft Loomcraft on CL for a decent price,  and am thinking about getting it for my first loom. Of course my main concern is if everything is there, but it is between that and a 24" Leclerc Dorothy 8 shaft with a stand that has treadles. Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

These are the pictures. Anybody see something or not see something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

You are looking at two very different tools. The loomcraft will be faster, let you weave wider fabric, and more different types of fabric (rugs, throws, etc).  The Dorothy, being a table loom, will be slower, but it has 8 shafts, which will give you more patterning possibilities.  It depends on what you want to make. If it were me, I would take the loomcraft.  I have tried table looms, and although many people like them and use them, I do not.  I find that the small shed you get from the short depth is frustrating for me to work with.  But I started using floor looms.  I didn't see any pics of the Dorothy, but the Loomcraft appears to be complete and in good shape.

Thanks, I am going to look at the LoomCraft

I just got back from picking up the LoomCraft. It is going to be an amazing first loom I think. It was missing a spring for the brake, the handle for the warp beam, and the stick that you tie up to on the back beam. Also one of the lease sticks is missing 2 inches from one end. I can drill new holes for that. The good news is that it is 45" not a 36 like the ad said. Not bad for $325. My camera phone sucks, but here it is set up kind of. The color is closer to the original pics from the ad.
