My wife wants to start weaving rag rugs. Looking for a first loom is kind of confusing. After much Internet research I think I may have found something local. There is a Leesburg 102 on Craigslist not far from us. From looking at the totalrug.com it seems that would actually work for what she wants to do. Is this a suitable loom for rag rugs? I am not sure what else to ask as I know little about it.

with you to see the loom.  A weaver will know if all the important parts are there.

HI Wayne...the Leesburg loom is a good rag rug loom.  It was modeled after the Union Rug loom and is sturdy enough to weave rag rugs.  They are not terribly expensive, as looms go, so it is a good choice for a starter loom.

Hi Wayne,

I just listed the ultimate rug weaving loom designed by Peter Collingwood. Not sure how far away you are, I'm in NC.

That's a fair amount over my budget. The Leesburg is for sale here for $350.

While you are learning how it all works and why it is set up how it is, there are a number of good threads here in Weavo about different booklists recommended for guidance.

Have fun!
