Hi

can anyone suggest the best yarn/textile to use to weave new seat covers for my dining room chairs? I thought about tencel. but not sure. I'd like it to be able to take the wear and tear and be at least to be spot cleaned.

Thanks

is rayon and not very strong.  It also might stain easily. It would be better to use a tightly spun linen or wool.  Cotton is also good, but it also shows stains readily.

It should be tightly twisted, single or two ply.  It is best if it is a fine yarn.  And don't use knitting yarns.  A twill weave is nice if you need the fabric to be stretched over a curve, as it stretches better than a weave based on plain weave.  A 3/1 twill gives you more solid areas of color than a 2/2 twill.  VAV magazine and Swedish pattern books have lots of suggestions for  upholstery fabric weaves.
