I posted this to a begining group elsewhere, but thought I would ask here as well.

I have a problem with my last couple of warp threads …they seem to ‘rise and sink’ a bit higher and lower than the rest of the warp. This in turn distorts my edges. I have been reading up on selvages, throwing the shuttles and temples. I have tried loosening and tightening my warp. I don’t have a small enough temple at this point, but I am trying to find one.
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Tamara

Loose outside threads? Hmm. Are you seating the weft threads closely around the selvedge threads? If not, the outside threads don't take up at the same rate and can become looser.... Cheers Laura

Try using a weighted temple - link here:

If your thread isn't terribly coarse, try doubling the last two threads - it makes for the kind of selvedge you see in commercial fabric where the last few ends are closer together than the rest of the cloth.

Thank you both!  I am trying to be more 'cautious' as I weave to seat the threads w/o drawing in and I also have been using the paper clip temple with some success as well.  Today I went to a yarn/knitting machine store and had another idea--the knitting machine hooked weights.   I think I may see if that works...
