For those with steel heddles, is there any trick to keep the extra unused heddles from dancing all around and rubbing on the floating selveges?

Is there some way to keep them pushed to the edges of the shafts?

I have a mighty wolf.

Hi, you can tie a loop of string around the middle of the remaining bunch, most times this stops the problem.  You can also make the loop go around all the shaft bar ends however the loop needs to be loose enough to allow the shafts to raise and lower.

My favorite is called a uni paper clip.  I got them at Staples or one of the big box office supply stores, but you can find them online too.   I push the heddles to the side, then slip one of these over the top of the metal heddle bar, both top and bottomright next to the heddles.  They stay put nicely and cut down on the noise and rubbing.  I've also used square paper clips too, but they get sprung a bit and fall off.  Tiny binder clips work too, but occasionally will catch on another harness.

Thanks for the tip on those little clips--are they metal or plastic?

I've tried the string around just the heddles but then they just slide together as a unit, and paper clips just fall off, I will try a looser large tie and put it all around the loom frame and see if that works--hope it doesn't bend the heddles though.

The clips are metal.  I was able to take a picture today- the brand name is supaclip - just google that.

If you reverse the shiny handles they are less likely to hang up.

plastic clips that I get at the office store - they ar like large square paper clips - I have also tied a pipe cleaner around the unused heddles to keep them together and pretty much in one place!
