This is one of my first attempts at a warp face/inkle band. I got the green yarn from the Art Center, mystery yarn, turned out to be hemp. The hemp has a distinct smell and is kind of scratchy/sticky. It was a difficult warp. Anyway, this one turned out to be the longest at 42 in. if I remember correctly. I have been wracking my brains trying to figure out what I want to do with the bands, when I saw these little pouches on a fiber blog. My first attempt was a dismal failure so I asked a friend who likes to sew if she could help. I knew if we destroyed another band this one wouldn't be a great loss. I LOVE what she did and now that I have an example to go by I can duplicate it. I even dug out the sewing machine and she helped me get the tension set up.
I still need to add a button and loop, and maybe a strap. Or maybe not. I think they will make nice make up bags just as they are. I hope to be able to make more of these and post on my artfire site. I will also be offering them through a consignment shop.
Wish me luck!
