Would your group like to host a workshop/lecture on Bhutanese kushutara weaving?
MAIWA (Vancouver) has expressed interest in hosting me to give a workshop in Bhutanese kushutara weaving, but due to the cost of bringing me from Australia, would like to share that cost with another organisation(s) interested in hosting me at a similar time (Sept/Oct/Nov 2015).
Kushutara is the complex supplementary weft brocade used for Bhutanese women’s festival dress and includes weft twining. Although it is woven on a backstrap loom in Bhutan, the techniques can be adapted to Western looms.
I am happy to provide details of a proposed workshop/lecture outline to any interested groups.
