Fourth in wall hanging series

This is the fourth in my red-black-and-white wall hanging series. This one has patterning using silk supplementary weft on a fine Guatemalan cotton ground cloth. The motif is inspired by a design woven in Calcha, Bolivia. Weavers use several colors of acrylic thread as supplementary weft to outline the flower motif in their white ground cloth. The motif is used on their hatbands.

In the black sample below, I also used the weft to outline the flower motif on the black ground cloth but am weaving the flower as a "positive" image on my wall hanging. I am inventinfg variations of the motif as I go

The three panels of the wall hanging are woven separately and will be joined across the top with weft twining.I hope to twine a flower motif.

I
