Relatively new to weaving I come from a knitting background and could not pass up the SALES at my local yarn shop. These are thick yarns and a daunting project. Bored with the initial placemats etc with fine cotton I made a leap last spring to this project. Shawl? too heavy, table cloth? only have round tables, maybe yardage for sewing or a vest or tunic. Whatever, I started it between quilts and then had to stop for the summer so now I'm back. I choose a huck canvas pattern, and a plaid style to play up the colours from the ONE skein of hand dyed silk purchased at a quilt show. I gave up trying to bury the ends for each colour/fibre change deciding to deal with them later. But it is coming up beautifully. It is rather open by design. But that's part of my learning experience.
