I have a 24", 4H Dorothy loom with wire heddles.  I'm going to replace them with inserted eye heddles but am not sure how many I should put on each harness.  Are inserted eye heddles heavier than wire heddles?  I don't want to limit my projects because of too few heddles.  Is there a rule of thumb for the maximum number of heddles per harness?

Depending on what grist yarn you like to use.

Bigger yarns need less heddles, finer yarns more. I actually keep 100 on each of my Voyager shafts, but sometimes I have to thread around empty heddles so the empty ones don't all pile up on the sides and restrict the warp path.
