I ended up getting the LeClerc Mira 36" loom for $400. In her lighting I didn't notice any rust on the heddles on the first shaft. I rubbed my finger on them and nothing came off. She assured me there isn't any rust on them but they might be dirty. Now I am at home and in better lighting there is so much rust especially on shafts 2,3,4. I am so upset because now I am looking at buying heddles. I have wiped them off multiple times with vinegar water, my towel is so orange from the rust. Now I pulled off the first shaft heddles and trying a vinegar soak with them.

Did I get a bad deal? I feel like emailing her to tell her.

Flat steel heddles are easy enough to clean with 0000 steel wool.  Twisted wire, not so much.  Too bendy. But cheaper to replace.

These are the twisted wire. I was going to try steel brush.

Do you think I still got a good deal even though I probably are going to have to replace heddles?

Look at the price on a new one...I think you did fine.  A lot of time people replace the heddles anyhow as a part of cleaning up and refurbishing an old loom.

Ok thanks. With the price of new heddles and the fact that the loom didn't come with a reed and treadle hooks has really made this $400 loom a $650/675 loom.

The sley hook is cheap -maybe $8. There is a places online that sells reeds much cheaper than leclerc. I forget the url but I found it linked from here.

Just get inserted eye heddles and place ads online for a reed....you'll be fine...happy weaving...
