Dear all,

Thank you so much for your kind concern for my earlier post about the blue print, and again, your valuable time to read about my next artifact that I really need help of weaving experts. I am so glad and feel honored to post my inquiry on one of ther most reknowned online forums that are reviewed by myriad professionals and specialists.

Please see the below for an image of the sash that has been preserved for Jane Addams Hull House Museum located in UIC East Campus, Chicao IL.

Please click here for the sash image.

The short description of the artifact says:

"Short, pre-dominantly red sash with solid embroidery, ribbon, bead, and sequin work on panel. Multictolored frindge on three sides. Very long tassels. Immigrant clothing from Near West Side"

To be honest, none of us could figure out what it is. I even wondered if the term 'sash' is correctly / appropriately depicts the particular artifact.

I believe it is belongs to a immigrant who should have studied/visited/worked in any types of engagement in Hull House before. From its exotic appearance, I assume this would come from a foreign country. But I cannot trace its origin and the usage. I guess it could be used for festive tradition or some ritual performance. I believe it would be worn by covering upper shoulder and the back of the person. (So the tassels is so drapery)...Besides this, I cannot think of any further..

Please kindly advice on this. Any kinds of comments, suggestions, critical thinkings are highly welcomed.

Thank you again for your kind concern and a great opportunity to share my project with weavolution experts.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards,

J.M
