First off I am a newbie.  Purchased a rug loom ( already warped and have made just a couple rag rugs. Also purchased a 4 harness counter balance floor loom to weave towels and such on.  Saw on a post to use 10/2 and 16/2 thread for towels.

Couple questions. The thread seems really small. I can break it easy.  Is this what I use for the warp threads?

Was planning on going with 2 threads per dent. 24 epi I believe. So does this mean to use 2 strings per heddle also?

The colored thread is the 2/16Cotolin. Wanted to use it for the outside borders(warp). The rest of the warp threads will be 10/2(cotton,white) which has a definite 2 ply although it is not a tight twist.

Thank You

What size material to use for towels is a personal preference. Some people like very thick towels and use cream and sugar, a thick soft cotton often used for hand knitting. I make and sell a lot of towels and use 8/2, which is a common practice. I set the 8/2 at 24 epi, a little tighter set than most people. If you sett your 10/2 at 24epi, as you have written, you may get a sleazier fabric than you want for towels.

I like your fabric description for the bath towel... So with this thread I should consider a kitchen hand towel?

Actually, I did not see your title of Bath Towels when I posted. The 8/2 towels that I described are kitchen towels. You can make kitchen towels out of 10/2; some people like the thinner towels. I thing 10/2 is much too small for bath towels. I use cotton chenille for bath towels.

I looked up cotton chenille and found on yarn barn, skeins. It said weaving sett: 8-10 epi . Would you use the cotton chenille for the warp and weft? What sett would you use also. I had my heart set on making bath towels for a first project. Thank you for the information BWSD.

Sett depends on the weight of the yarn and the weave structure. I usually use 1460 chenille at 12 epi for twill. It would be less for a plain weave. You have to be careful of the beat; too hard a beat will produce a board-like textile, to gentle will make a sleazy fabric. I usually buy yarn by the pound or kilogram on cones or tubes; skeined yarn is expensive and must be wound on to a cone before use.
