Are there rules (or rules of thumb) for how to balance an advancing twill threading in an attractive way?  I have a sense that the nature of the advancing twill line might impose certain restrictions.

For an upcoming workshop I am looking at a published echo weave draft based on an 8 shaft advancing point twill.  The draft calls for a number or threading repeats, followed by a repeat of the entire twill line advancing from shaft 1 to shaft 8, for balance.  Balancing in this case requires 32 ends.  This is all before we get to the echo weave.  What are my other options for balancing that won't look like a mess?  Anything that would require fewer ends?  How could I split the balancing to either side so that the pattern repeats are centered?

Hope all that makes sense.

I don't know how, but have you looked at Echo and Iris a newish book on the market?

I have the book, Cathie, but it is pretty relentlessly focused on echo based on networked twill threadings, just mentioning the other possibilities in passing.  In any case, I don't think the echo would make a difference in this.  The question is, what are the options of balancing the advancing twill threading other than repeating the entire twill line. Thanks for answering.

If it is on a point twill, won't it balance itself, climbing up the twill line and then decending so you would end on the decent?  Just wondering.

Define a "middle", then mirror?
