I am very new to weaving and am attempting my first solo at attaching the warp to my loom. I'm already finding it difficult at the very beginning, when it comes to attaching the Back Stick to the Apron Bar. The Apron Bar has looped lengths of cord attached to it, by means of the cord being tied in a loop, then wrapped arround the apron bar before one end is pulled through the loop, thus making the loop secure on the Back Apron. My instructions then say "attach the Back Stick to the Apron Bar by taking the looped lengths on the Apron Bar, wrapping them around the Back Stick, pushing the end back through the loop and then slide a nail through the keep the loop in place." I am finding this very fiddly indeed and wonder if I can use either of the following options instead.
1. "Ashord" make a rigid heddle loom and one of the systems that they use to attach bars consists of a flexible piece of plastic, with an arrowhead profile at one end and a flat "nail head" at the other' the "arrowhead" acts as a "one-way" connection. If suitable sized drilling are made in the Apron Bar and Back Bar would that be a suitable alternative?
or
2. Can I use "Texsolv" cord, wrapped round and pulled through on itself on the Apron Bar and then wrapped and pegged on the Back Stick?
Grateful for advice or any alternative suggestions
