Can I use this pattern for kitchen towels? If so what type of thread do I use? The same as for the tablecloth?

ReedGuy

Without the color striping, this is actually known as the 'Wandering Man' when warp and weft are different colors.

It's a standard 2/2 twill, so it's completely suitable for kitchen towels. I used Valley 8/2 unmercerized cotton at 24 epi/ppi for the tablecloth and napkins.

I'm curious as to your source for the "Wandering Man" draft. I can't seem to find a reference to it. I've always known this to be a standard straight 4-shaft threading with a 2/2 twill tie-up.

ReedGuy

Yes, that's the weave structure. 'Wandering Man' is just a name for the color effect with warp and weft being two different colors. There's no striping.

Source is 'Warp and Weft' Eriksson, Gustavsson, Lovallius (2008) Swede authors.
