Our guild did a holiday showcase at a local historical mansion (Skylands Manor in Ringwood, NJ) so we filled our alloted space with various spinning, dyeing, and weaving activities. I demonstrated weaving and wanted to have a finished product. I chose to make kithcen towels. The warp materials were donated by another guild member and I have no idea of the source of these unmercerized cottons. For the weft I raided my own stash for some fine cottons that I doubled in order to have an appropriate weight. The weft pattern yarns were tow linens from my stash. I wove three towels, keeping one for myself and giving the other two as gifts. The draft I used was the same as the previous placemats I made for my son and DIL, a Monk's Belt from Jean Scorgie's "Handweaver's Craft," Spring, 2004. This was a quick, fun project!
