That looks very joyful and colorful. I don't quite get the "name" thing, though. Did you use the same colours in the same sequence for warp and weft? And who would be able to "read" them ;-)

Wonderful  colours ! Sounds like an exciting process. And the result looks very good.

What kind of temple did you use? I see two clamps at the edges. Are they fixed with the loom?

Those are alligator clips with mason's string tied to them, and a weight on the other end.  I had to string some more line from the back beam to the front beam of the loom on each side.  The line from the clips is then hung over that.  They do work!

Well, instead of assigning a letter to a shaft, as in regular name drafting with overshot, you assign each letter a color (what ever colors you choose).  The number of ends of each color is determined by the numerical value of the letter -- a=1, h=8, etc.  So the color & # of ends determines how you warp the word.  So home is 8, 15, 13, and 5 ends , for a total of 41 ends, and uses 4 different colors.  Each word is separated by a color not used for a letter.  For someone to read it, you would have to tell them what the words are. On the photo of the draft, if you read from the right, there is a turquoise border, then it reads, home, spacer, health, spacer, grace, spacer, peace, spacer, and home (mirrored on this side), with a final border.   I used the warp yarns as weft, as I felt like it -- as you can see each is different.  There's no meaning in the weft color sequence.  Check out Bonnie Tarses' website -- www.bonnietarses.com -- for a lot of examples, and probably a much better explanation.

Notes

I did these for an online workshop I took from Bonnie Tarses on her "Woven Words" technique, which assigns a color to each letter, and constructs a name/word draft this way.  The colors were taken from a water color that I liked, but I really didn't like how the warp looked.  Bonnie assured me that the technique would work, and I'm very pleased with the results.  I originally had a 1/2" light turquoise border on each side (the same color used as the separator between the words), but didn't like that, so I hemmed the sides as well.
