I'm trying to do something weaverly every day for Halloweave, even if only a pick or two a day.  I'm counting unweaving as being weaverly today :(.  Unweaving tablet weaving done in sewing thread is a beast.

Sigh.

9 days ago,  I wove one 1 inch section of my table runner 4 times till I got the pattern right! I conquered that beastie,  though,  and emerged victorious!

and checked out that Sulky thread you are using.

O-M-G!

I have realised I have got two threads crossed with my double weave. Right at the very beginning. Fortunately I only had 3 rows to undo - and re-do.

Having done three rows though the balance with the shock cords has shifted so Im gettting an unbalanced shed. I will need to sort the point at which it joins to the treddle.

I have been trying to learn to warp on my first warping board first warp almost finished, One of the Pegs let loose...what a mess.... RE-warp after a tangled monster recoup... second time one of the other pegs loosened...not such a mess though... THEY say the third time is the Charm...lets hope it really is ...lol   By the way I am using the back of my Kromski loom with its built in warping board on the back..with removeable pegs...(tricky for someone so inexperienced as myself) and I am Really learning I have to really check the pegs lots...during a warp and also being a neophite to warping I found that I have to make my warp not to tight...that was the second problem. Now useing hubbys rubber headed hammer for warping as well.     OY VAY!  Well I will count it all a learning experience I guess...and you know what they say if you fail...try-try(maybe even) try again. :)

It all counts as weaving! I've got unweaving down to an accepted zen like experience I do it so often ! It means we finally understand and can do it better:) Weavejoyforall, Warping woes are the worst! Keep trying, You'll get there, keep the sense of humor too:)

On warping on a board -it's not tight at all. Just firm enough it doesn't fall off. That will help keep the pegs from coming out.

as this experience is - we have all been there! It helps us to learn and perfect our craft. Hang in there!

Weavejoyforall, I still find myself with the death grip on my warps sometimes too.  I have to be very conscious of keeping the warp relaxed- it's really not going to go anywhere.  But I got some great visuals from your description!

Keeping a death grip on the yarn isn't necessary. The yarn just needs to not sag and be consistent. You might find the video clips I've loaded to you tube helpful. Check for lauraannfry1 Cheers Laura

My first Successful Warp was taken off the board and I dressed my heddle early this morning my warp is on the back beam but not yet rolled on and tired on the front beam. Sometime Monday(tomarrow) that will be done and I will be up and weaving.  I am happy I have gotten this far without pulling out my hair ...lol (not recomended while weaving) he he

Thanks to all who gave me encouragement and advice up to this point !  will post a picture soon!

Wow.... What a neat challenge. Ever since Christmas I've been weaving a little every day (well almost). I'm on a mission to do 50 scarves for the homeless shelters in my area. So far I have 25. When I get to 30 I'm gonna stop for a while. Fortunately, (or unfortunately) they're almost all an army green with either black or a light green warp. I got a deal on some Caron arcylic (5 big cones). Just about through them too.I'm doubling the weft. Acrylic = easy care, easy wash, little shrinkage. It's an unpaid apprenticeship. I'm learning a lot and practice is what it's all about. No?

I just pulled the most recent 7 off.

One evening I was working on some overshot at my local weaving school and having a very frustrating time of it. Between getting the pattern right, putting in the correct tabby, and beating square, I had to back up quite often before I finally got the hang of it.   My instructor watched me for a while and when I left at the end of the evening praised me saying "You wove a great deal this evening...in both directions!"

Tom Z, Thank you for weaving the scarves for the Homeless community. Mrdubyah , What a good chuckle with my morning coffee:)

Love waking up to all this! TomZ those scarves will be so appreciated! Lovely patterns! And I love hearing about weaving both ways. it's always a challenge, especially when you're unweaving because of floats and going cross-eyed looking for the "place" you must fix. I wish I had a weaving school nearby...that would be a dream of mine!
