My dare is a doubleweave overshot baby blanket/lap throw. Any other double dares going on?

Mine is something large-ish in finnweave that can actually be used for something. I am done with dithering and sampling.

My dare is a double woven fringed shawl with tiny pockets to insert sequins.

I am combining this with my ghost over in Sppok of the loom. As a new rigid heddle weaver ( about 2 months) I am fascinated with the possibilities of using two heddles so my ghost to conquer was to figure out how to warp both heddles and then sample using Jane Patrick's book. I did that, accomplished the warping, weaving in plain weave, two separate layers, exchanging the layers top to bottom, joining on one side to double the width of the finished fabric, made a tube, successfully sampled making an opening in the center of the top layer and played around with various textures, etc. That pretty much used up my sample warp - so now it is time to explore double weave. But before I rewarp the loom I have class on Saturday then once that project is off it is on to double weave - its looks so much harder than it is - and as they say a mistake made twice is a pattern - I am ready to go! I posted some photos of the finished 2 heddle sampler over on Spook of the Loom - the slevedges are not great but I was more worried about techniques than looks! Next week I move on to double weave. . .

I am daring myself to warp & weave a double blanket & recover from surgery at the same time !  I've woven samples of double weave, but not tried a project yet.

I am going to try overshot patterned doubleweave.

My dare has been reduced to a scarf from a blanket. I'm demoing every weekend in Oct, over 2 hours away. I'm just not gonna have the time to cycle through the projects on my big loom.

I am hoping my yarn comes in this week - I won't be able to warp my loom for the sampler wall hanging until next week - I have a class on Saturday - but am looking forward to getting started on an usuable doubleweave project. Tina

My double dare is coming along quite well. I'm weaving a bag, hopefully a series, in tubular double weave. I've completed the bag already, the dare is actually to test my theory. My theory is that I can weave teh tubular bag, then weave a flap by weaving only one layer. I chose to weave only the top layer for ease of weaving. Once that is all said and done, I will aso weave the straps as stitched double weave.

Cheers,

Erica

(is that allowed?)

This is a backpack I wove - just to see "if I could". I don't like the result, but the construction worked.
