to get in some weaving this evening - not as much as I should have but. . . I like the idea of trying for at least 5 minutes a day because I know if once I get started I will stick with it much longer!

Good for you!  It's a great start on your project.  Five minutes each day can add up quickly and perhaps you'll find more time on the weekend.

Weave on!!

Even five minutes counts--a little bit every single day!

Here's what I wove up this morning:

I don't know if I'll be able to *weave* every day, because I need to knit up and dye blanks before I can weave them up, but I'm going to work on this project every day!

I have a shawl on the loom right now that I need to get finished before this weekend - so I have to try and weave every evening for at least 30 - 40 minutes or it won't get done. I ahve class on Saturday and need a an empty loom!

Tien - I am really loving your panels - the colors are amazing and the fact that you knit blanks to dye and then weave is mindblowing to me - it would take me forever to get the blanks knit up - looking forward to seeing the coat.

LOL!  I have a knitting machine, which means I can knit up a blank in about 90 minutes.  It would take FOREVER if I were doing it by hand!

I am glad to hear you ahve a knitting machine - I could not imagine hand knitting all those blanks. I am a fairly fast knitter but. . . .! LOL

Like Tien, I look forward to working on my projects every day. One is in the finishing-getting-ready-to-cut stage, and the other one is just getting started on the warping board.

from weaving - I knew it was time to take a break when I finished winding my shuttle only to find that I wound on the wrong yarn and had two shuttles of the same instead of one of bamboo cotton and one meriono blend. Heavy sigh. Luckily I had another empty shuttle to wind on the right yarn - after a few deep breathes and a few stretches it is back to weave for a bit longer. Only about 20 more inches to go on the scarf. . . .

but it is a shawl - at 21 inches it would be a bit wide for a scarf!

I got my inkle loom warped, with some pretty blue and white threads, and got about 12 inches woven yesterday. My loom holds up to a 6 yard warp, but I was low on the blue thread I used, so I only warped it for about 2 yards.

That's gorgeous, Tien! The colors just glow.

I love this time of year, because so many of the trees are those glowing oranges, reds, and yellows.

i found my warping board yesterday.  does that count?

tien (not verified)

LOL!  Did you put a few strands of yarn on it??

I wove the rest of my second panel last night, and will start on the third panel tonight.  Will also start knitting the blank for the next panel...

cut it off the loom last night. Found a couple of small skips on the reverse side that I will fix today and hope to get it wet finished tonight. Since I have class tomorrow I won't be actually weaving today but I think the finish work on the shawl counts. Tomorrow class is all about houndstooth. These are mini classes to help us get more experience warping and learning new patterns and techniques. By the time we are finished I will have a nice collections of scarves for Christmas presents! Then next week I will start on my DoubleDares and Spook of the Loom project - a double weave wall hanging.

i managed to get a few strands on the warping board today (silly children interferring with things i want to do! ;)

tien - that panel is amazing, and i hate orange.  what are you doing with it?

tien (not verified)

I'm weaving up seven or eight panels and then sewing them into a coat!  Here is one finished panel (it's been overdyed with fiber-reactive dyes so the maple leaves are no longer white, but still visible)

The ones I'm weaving now are the brightly colored panels; I started knitting up the blanks for the darker colored panels yesterday, and picked out colors for them this morning.  I plan to finish knitting and dyeing the three darker colored blanks tomorrow, let them dry overnight, and unravel/weave them up on Sunday!

I am joining late, but I like the idea of weaving everyday.  Since I am playing catch up I have done something weaving related everyday so that should count.  Monday I wove a scarf on my small loom, finished it Tuesday.  Wednesday i had a new student come out for her first lesson (fun!!-she is so enthused). Thursday Michael and I went to a historical site and worked on balancing an old counter-balance loom (and I did weave about 5 inchesl  Today, I did not actually weave as I had to work at the store where I work part-time, but I did sell one of my handwoven towels, so maybe that counts.  Saturday will be weave in AM, work in PM, and Sunday will be weave all day.  Yeah!!

PS  Tien, that yardage is gorgeous!!

I just finished four towels for an exchange. They are off and waiting for a bath. i will post a pic once they are done. In the mean time I am attending a weaving class for the next 3 days on stars. I would imagine that I will have a great idea for my next project after that.

I've knitted two out of three blanks for the dark-colored panels in my project, and plan to finish the third today.  After that I'll dye them, and then I'll be on to weaving!

I am heading out to class - will be starting a houndstooth scarf to finish at home - once that is off I will start on my double weave wall hanging. Will have about two weeks to get it finished before my next class - so weaving something everyday will be a necessity! Weave on!

I wove all but two days last week. I need to get a piece done for an order. I hope this will get me moving. Farmers market will end in about 6 or 7 weeks and if the weather turns bad I usually pass. It gets so busy this time of year. Then I kinda veg out for awhile. I want to get some" go get them" to keep the momentum going for the off season

Well, no weaving today, but I knitted up a blank and dyed three previously-knitted blanks:

Tomorrow they should be dry and I should be able to unravel them and get to weaving!

Class was great this morning - finished my houndstooth scarf about an hour ago, cut it off the loom, twisted the fringe and am in process of wet finishing as I type. Tomorrow I start on my double dar / spook of the loom project. Woohoo! and Tien, your blanks are gorgeous the colors fantastic.

i  managed to get two inkle bookmarks made up in the last two days.  they were narrower than i intended - they're not much wider than shoelaces - but they're sufficient for marking the page.  and they're nicer than the fortune cookie fortune i was using.

I marked pattern pieces on three more of the fabrics for the Teddy bears, and wove a bit more on my final fabric warp.  24" is done.  A little bit each day, and I will get it done by the time I need it.
