I am in the planning stages of a couple of projects such as linsey/woolsey and my dream of reproducing a family coverlet.  Now the family piece is in cotton/wool but I want to reinterpret it in linen/wool for a couple of pillows for gifts.  Has anyone ever gone this route?   I will probably weave the backside as well with a nice plain weave or maybe a twill, not sure yet.

Thanks

I'm not quite sure what you're asking -- is the family piece you're trying to reproduce an overshot coverlet (cotton warp and weft, tabby weave, with overshot pattern in wool), or is it linsey-woolsey (usually tabby weave, sometimes with stripes)?  Can you post pics?

Never mind, sounds like overshot, right?  :)  The background on that would be tabby.  There are a couple of early coverlets that were woven with linen rather than cotton.

Never mind, I see what you're asking -- you're asking both about linsey and a coverlet.

There are a couple of early coverlets that were woven with linen tabby instead of cotton.
