I have this persistent problem with no solutions. My dobby III correctly produces the correct pattern for about 1/2 hour. Then it skips at a pretty regular interval. Whether it's a simple plain weave or a 16 shaft pattern, same thing.

Anyone out there experience this and have you ever resolved it.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a heat thing in the box.

I have worked with AVL in the past with no results.

It's not just me. My friend with a dobby3 recently switched back to the mechanical dobby!

Have you cleaned the box out?  Sometimes dust builds up in and around the solenoids causing them to overheat?

Laura, short of giving it a bath - everything! I've been working on and off this issue for years. I just need to do some power weaving, so now it's front and center.

Do you have a compudobby 3? Have you had this problem?

Is it skipping entire picks, or are certain solenoids misfiring?  I have had lots of trouble with solenoids burning out, but not with skipped picks.  I've just replaced the solenoids and may amp up the fans by swapping them out for more powerful ones sometime soon.

I'm just wondering if others with dobby3, are experiencing this.

Maybe skipping isn't the right term. I'm weaving away, feet in a rhythm on the treadles, throwing the fly, and it doesn't advance to the next pic. The next pic, is going in the same shed, even tho, my feet have hit the treadles.

What do you mean by solenoids burning out. Those are the little black discs, right? How did you know they burned out?

Anyone have information on the next gen compudobby? I thought a 4 was coming out and wondered if it works any better.

I have a CD II, with a very old PC to drive it. The PC does not understand that it is working, so sometimes update software, "sleep" or other things scheduled to start "after the computer has been inactive for xx minutes" starts - and the loom starts to behave badly. I have now adjusted all schedules to the longest time possible, and try to remember to touch the keyboard on occasion...
