Here are some needlefelted wool sculptures which I made prior to discovering Weavolution. Now when I look at them "The Weaver" makes me think of Tien and "The Fiddler" reminds me of Michael White. I haven't yet found who "The Oracle of the Well" is.
For the Weaver, I wove her hat straps, burden strap, belt and boot ties from wool on an inkle loom. Her basket is woven of hickory twigs and raffia. The bag which lines her burden basket and is filled with fruit, I wove on the RH loom in a simple tabby weave. The mittens hanging from her belt are knit. I intentionally kept the non-needlefelted parts of the sculpture simple, because I don't usually like to mix media in these pieces, as I'm creating a sculpture not "dressing a doll." Most of the wool used in all three pieces, I dyed with acid wool dyes, though some was purchased already dyed. The Oracle is a vessel, the last one I have of a series of "goddess vessels" that I made.
