Notes:

Summer & Winter has long been on my "to-do" list. These little towels explore a variety of treadling methods. It was the first time I had used a skeleton tie-up on my countermarch loom. The finished length above is for each towel. The draft is from Shuttle Craft Guild Monograph #19: Summer & Winter and Other Two-Tie Unit Weaves by Harriet Tidball.

In a comment on my blog Diane in Oregon alerted me to the fact that the original souce for this pine tree draft is in Recipe Book: Patterns For Handweavers by Mary Meigs Atwater. Thanks, Diane!

Draft Source

Hi, Weaver 1126

I searched for this Shuttle Craft Guild Monograph #19 at my favoirte online book sellers and found copies both new and used. However the prices are high. Checking Amazon, several other titles from the Shuttle Craft Monograph series are available. Perhaps if one kept checking #19 might come available there. I found my copy at the estate sale of a fellow weaver.

Diane in Oregon commented on my blog post about this warp. She found the draft in "Recipe Book: Patterns for Handweavers" by Mary Meigs Atwater. As it turns out Atwater is the original souce. The draft in Tidball's book appears to be an exact copy from Atwater. "Recipe Book" is another one on my wish list. Fortunately I was able to borrow a copy from my guild library.

Best wishes for a sucessful search.

Searching....

I searched online with "Shuttle Craft" as my key word and have been enthralled by the 1940's published newsletters!  Loved it!
