are so cool. I want one! Are they made out of leather?
Yes. The backs are burnished saddle leather, pockets are a little thinner. Small pouches are chamois/doeskin.
I have a wonderful leather worker friend who played with me yesterday amidst her hide stash and industrial saddler's sewing machine (and a bunch of loom tools) to bring my idea to fruition!
I had been reading the thread from Thor's house, and was curious - this far exceeds my mental image. How lucky to have a leather worker friend - and such a clever idea!
Not only was this a great concept, they're beautiful, too! Haven't ever seen anything like this before...very creative and functional.
I knew I wanted something that would blend well with the natural materials inherent in the loom and materials used in weaving. And, gosh, I have so many strange but critically useful little tools that I hated having to burrow in my bench for....
It took the Halloweave challenge to get me motivated to follow up on my idea. thanks!
These are excellent!
Thank you for sharing!
The finished product is fabulous. Could be a commercial success too. Leather is an inspired addition for those of us who thrive on fiber and wood (also really fiber too). Amazing how fast you went from idea to finished product.
Great idea! I just the idea of holstering my shuttle:)
At 20 picks, turn and draw your shuttle!
Plus this would be so convienient when doing multiple color shuttles of let's say 4, instead of trying to hold them in your lap!
Re your comment: I guess that would be a different kind of shuttle race:)
That was the frustration that led me to design these. I was working on some upholstery fabric with 8 different colors in it. Made 18 feet of the stuff, and absolutely had Zero fun doing it because of the shuttle change melee! Dropped, tangled, scrambled... A big pain! That's when I stewed and simmered my plot to find or make handy organizers for multiple shuttles. Took the Halloweave challenge to kick me into gear and follow through, tho.
Already, I truly don't know how I could go back to weaving without them!
Wow! Thank you to everybody who voted for this!
