Additional info

I used my 150cm Toika Liisa loom with underslung beater and a fly shuttle attachment to weave this huckaback lace curtain featured in the book Happy Weaving from Vavmagasinet.  The warp and weft are both Bockens Fiskgarn: unbleached 20/6 cotton rug warp yarn, ca 5,230m/kg from Holma-Helsinglands.  I used a metal temple to weave the panel, which was 59 inches when stretched on the loom, but which collapsed after wet finishing to 43 inches width.  Keeping an even beat on the airy fabric was the main challenge!

There are several groups weaving curtains and sharing on internet.  Really inspiring and I may have to join in.

Curtain Joy

caloosa,

Do weave a curtain!  Everytime I go in the room where it is hanging, I am filled with joy!  That is a great feeling.

See through-ness report

Thank you, TomZ,

The curtain is perfect for partial transparency.  Not opaque enough for total privacy, but good for a north-facing office which needs some light.   This was a great project, and I have 12 or so more yards of a new warp to make to finish the window treatments for the room.  Right now I'm considering hems, whether to roll and weight or whether to zigzag and face with a handwoven decorative tape....
