Procrastination House 2016
Dictionary definition: Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished. It is the practice of doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, or carrying out less urgent tasks instead of more urgent ones, thus putting off impending tasks to a later time.
Every weaver has tasks that they enjoy or they would not weave. Tasks to avoid come with the territory. Confession to your friends and sharing ways to move a task from the 'roundtoit' list to the list of more pleasurable tasks will be the goal for our Halloweave compressed into a long week --two weekends! Sometimes it is just the fear of the unknown that holds us back and sometimes it is a small bump in the road that could easily be smoothed over by your friends. Afterwards the solved molehills that had stopped us like tall mountains leave behind some of the best stories. Boo boos do eventually become humorous!
I am qualified to lead this house by virtue of my longest weaving procrastination. I have never wet finished the first piece of cloth I wove (1969) because I was afraid it would change my most miraculous treasure. That unfinished tote bag (with woven in handles that still also needs 2 seams without cutting the cloth) has traveled with me to each new house.
I will be purchase two copies of Larua Fry's Magic in the Water --one for myself and one as a prize for Procrastination House 2016.
