Where to Post: the computer age old question

March 16, 2017

In any online community the question arises, where is the right place to post? Everyone will have their own opinion and other users may make a suggestion to cross post elsewhere. On Weavolution, there are a few places you can post Projects, Drafts, Groups, Blog entries, etc. Most of our sections are fairly self explanatory. If you are posting something you have woven, it will go in Projects, if you are posting a draft you have written, it goes in Drafts. If you have a question or want to interact with many other weavers, the best place to post is in Groups.
We are blessed with an astonishing amount of groups, so it is no wonder our newest users and even of our veteran users may struggle to choose a good place to post their question/topic for discussion. There are nearly 300 groups on Weavolution. So how do you decide where you should post a question or discussion topic. Some topics will be fairly self explanatory, a tablet weaving question easily fits in the Inkle and Tablet Weaving group. But what if you have a general question? When I first started on Weavolution, I would start narrowing down my options by specifically searching for a group related to my topic. You can do this by typing in terms into the search bar and then choosing Group in the drop down menu next to the search bar. You can also just type in a few words from your question/topic and leave the search set to any and see if someone has already started a suitable thread. You can also post in the Coffee Shop group, which hosts our most general discussions. I like to think of this group as a Weavolution cafe, where we can chat about anything that is on our mind.
If you have a question that would be pertinent to several groups, you can post that single discussion in multiple groups by holding down the Ctrl Key and choosing each group where you want the post to appear!

I hope you find this tip helpful. If you have questions you would like to see us address, please drop us a line at [email protected]

Happy weaving,
Erica
