Bravo, Eleanor. Your edges are excellent. I like the effect of muti-colors in the warp and varied denim in the warp. I have wanted to try denim. Thinking about making that tough fabric into yarn strips has me hesitating. Did you rip or cut your denim strips?

Do you use a Fraser cutter?

I like going into Marden's in Maine. Never know what you find and very cheap. I just bought 13 yards of fleece for $48.  Using it for muslin to test pattern fit and lining of my shirt jacket. Local Walmart wants $23 for 1.5 yards of muslin.  Rolling eyes.

I have a small bag of old denim that I have been hording for several years.  But it looks like so much work to cut it into weft!  I loved looking at the beautifully photographed project - and wow - tell us more about that roll of denim!

That roll off denim was a stack of three rolls.  It made less than one 72" rug.  I deconstructed more than 200 pairs of blue jeans using many seam rippers.  I killed my Gingher shears, and many titanium Olfa cutter blades.  It would have been impossible to use a fabric stripper because the leg sections varied greatly in length, width, and weight.  The denim really chewed up my hands, too - Aquaphor was my friend for hand repair.  I didn't add any weight to my beater, and I was packing it is as tightly as I could, beating three and four times at a time.  I want to make more denim rugs, but when I do, I'll be buying the denim of the bolt.
