I think this is incredibly beautiful!  How much yarn did you use......ounces/skeins? Thanks.

Hi and thanks for the comment.  I call it Sheepy Wool because even though it is woven in alpaca it feels like a wooly fleece.  I wound a 10 yard warp (for 3 throws) using 6 lbs of superfine alpaca (1250 ypp).  For the first throw I used 3.5 lbs. of the boucle yarn for the weft.  I am located in (currently 5º) Western MA, so a heavy, warm throw is desirable.  In Fl . . . might be a little much.  I always weave these in twill in order to make them more dense and like a sheep fleece, but if you wove one in plain weave it would be lighter and use less yarn.

Notes

I dressed the loom with enough warp for three of these throws.  They are dense and soft and cozy.  I have woven them on my rug loom (4 shafts) very easily, but this is the first time I have woven them on my AVL.  The problem is that the shed is small on my older AVL and the bobbins are by necessity pretty fat (if I want to get even a few picks per bobbin.)  I hesitate to use a ski shuttle mainly because I'm not very adept.  Anyway, one finished and another half finished . . .
