I noticed in one of Peggy's pictures, she has a book with her skeins spilling out. Is this a binder or are you using tape? Peggy, can you open your book and take a picture? Do you keep notes in that book as well? Is there a preferred method to keeping everything organzied? I tend to be slightly disheveled, and would like to start out right!

Thanks so much.

We will be making color chips from our yarn by wrapping them around a card.  We need these to  assign Munsell notation.  These are what I store for my color library.  I like to keep them clean and protected from light for the longest longevity.  Your system for storage will evolve as we go thru the class.

The first task of organizing will be labeling the skeins. If skeins get confused  all work is lost.  How do you plan to label the skeins before they go into the dyepot so that 10 days after you dyed them you still know what dyebath they were in ?

I imagine the tyvec band? Is this the type of thing we'll be discussing in class tomorrow?

I have a large partial roll of Tyvek left from constructing the dye studio.  I think I will be set for life with labels!

Mary, if you are still interested in seeing a recipe sample page, I can certainly take a picture and send it to you.  I am very curious to see how Karren's system is set up.

Hi Peggy, I'd love to see how you organized it. Do you know how many stock jars we should have on hand?

I'm not sure how many Karren wants us to have.  Remember that you can fit only so many into your heating system at a time.  Once the cooking is complete, you will re-use the jars over and over again.  My guess is we'll hear from Karren tomorrow about jar amounts.  I just happen to have tons of jars left over from canning.

I'll try to get a sample page photographed and sent to you so you can see what I've done.
