I can't figure out how to do the pick up in Anne Dixon's INKLE PATTERN DIRECTORY , monk's belt knotwork,pg. 100.

Although I love this desgn, I can't seem to manage, "Place first two fingers of each hand into shed and drop down those pattern threads not reaquired". Seems like it is way too hard to simply drop the trheads not required.....Am I missing something? I am using 10/2 cotton for weft and warp- 5/2 cotton for pattern thread.

Any suggestions would be oh, so helpful.

I worked from the same book and mastered the technique.  It's very fiddly.  It's really (in my mind) a variation of pickup described earlier in the book, using the heavier yarn as noted in the pattern section.  I use fingers from both hands to control all the threads on every single pick.  I have to count each thread as I either drop it or pick it up, per the pattern directions.  It took me way too long to figure out you're ONLY dropping or picking up the pattern threads (not every thread in a heddle).  I also beat between the picks as described by the author.  Pic is my effort to combine a couple different patterns from the book to practice, practice, practice.
