I'm having a blast with the mohair throw. Really.

The only troubles I'm having are 1. The lease sticks won't move (but Cowboy Magic and patience is helping with that), and I don't want to remove the lease sticks from the back of the warp - they give me a sense of security. 2. The quills don't always want to unwind in the shuttle, so I've resorted to pulling of a length of yarn before throwing the shuttle, especially when it's near then end of the yarn on the quill. 3. My shuttle is dropping through the warp far too often; but that's not the mohair's fault - it's the 45 inches across that's the challenge. The times the shuttle doesn't drop to the floor, I'm only getting it partway across the warp, and then I have to nudge it the rest of the way.

This pic shows the loom in anticipation.

I have finished my 8 inches of sampling, finally getting the 7 PPI I was after.

Would love to hear of your progress, too!

I'm weaving a mohair blanket now too. It was so sticky I couldn't get a shed - but Cowboy Magic worked magic - now I have a shed. I had the same problem you do with the bobbin, so I put a little on my fingers when I'm winding the bobbin, and now the bobbin releases the mohair just fine.

I did take out the lease sticks, which made life easier as well . . .

Good luck!

Cookie, I'm so happy to hear you are weaving a mohair blanket, too. I'll try the Cowboy Magic for making the bobbins behave - great idea!

I do hope you join the HalloWeave Frightful Fibers group. If you post your project and designate it as a HalloWeave project, you're eligible for the prizes.

are amazing Karen - hoping the Cowboy Magic works its magic on your bobbins and warp!

Thanks, Tina. The iPhone pics just don't seem to capture the real color, but I'm glad you like it. I have a feeling you'd like it even more in person. At least I do.

Don't tie the lease sticks together - use the hole(s) to mount a "security string" per stick instead. It is much easier to move just one stick at a time. This is the best tip I have ever been given - read more on my webpage, and as ever: THANK YOU Barbro!!!

Kerstin, I just knew there had to be a way. That's brilliant to tie the lease sticks separately. It's so simple -- why didn't I think of that??!
