I don't have a drawloom (yet).  I do have a Glimakra Standard 8 shaft loom, and I want to learn more about drawlooms to see if that's something I want to try down the road.  So I thought this group would be a good place to learn.  I live in Indiana and don't know of anyone here who has a drawloom.

I, like Tina, do not have a drawloom yet.....my dream loom is a 32 shaft  computer aided Toika with a Single Unit draw attachement.......someday.......I do a lot of tied weaves, and with a drawloom could do a lot of pictoral work......wanting to reduce my studio to one loom instead of 14, the above loom would be the ideal for me....I could do literally anything I wanted on such a loom.  I have a 16 shaft Toika that I am thinking of adding a dobby attachement to, and I could expand it to add the single unit draw attachment as well......we shall see......<g>

Hi, my name is Dawn, I spent several months researching drawlooms and did come across some great articles I'd be happy to share.  I own a Varpa countermarche which I converted a) to a drawloom with pattern saving lashes which required extending the height of the loom and an overhang at the front for the drawcord warp.  It worked beautifully although aesthetically it was ugly to look at!  I had to move the loom to the basement which has no headroom and now it is set up as a single draw and I am in the process of adding a shaft draw also to = a combination drawloom.  I longed after the beautiful Myrehead draw attachments but realized it would be near impossible to get a combination unit to work on my horizontal cm.

My goal is to produce free and more painterly textiles - I want to incorp my background in print and weave into the drawloom.  So a single draw option was my primary concern.  I found Becky's (Vavstuga) video very very good! and highly recommend it to anyone thinking about drawloom weaving. the book Damask and Opphamta (not sure if I spelt this correctly) is also a fabulous book!  Vav magazine also is a good resource.  Some where I have a free download of a very old Swedish document pertaining to drawlooms with lots of photos, please contact me if you would like more info and I will try to find the link.

I look forward to hearing other weavers findings
