There is a lot of hound's tongue in this area - a non-native invasive species in the borage family.   Alkanna tinctoria or Alkanet (dyer's bugloss)  is also in the borage family and it occurred to me that the roots of the hound's tongue might also yield some colour.

This morning I kept a few of the plants I pull on my walks and chopped up the roots.  I have them soaking in alcohol and there is some colour emerging.

Has anyone else tried this plant?
