I can't believe I can't answer this question.  But I know you all can!  What qualities should you look for in weft yarns?  Squishy, lofty? Hard,  compact?

It depends on what kind of fabric you want.  Upholstery? Hard, tightly twisted.  Fluffy, soft shawl?  Soft, fluffy, felts well.  Drapey shawl with sheen?  Bamboo, silk, tencel.
