Hi Brandon,

I recently joined WARP and have just received my Members Handbook. I live in Bolivia and am hoping to make contact with people who are working with women's textile cooperatives here. I have already circled a coupe of names on the members' list and must send off some emails.

Are you currently working with any such cooperatives or did you at some time in the past?. I would love to hear about your inolvement with WARP.

I am just looking for an excuse to go to the States and perhaps teach some backstrap weaving workshops. Perhaps I can combine a trip with participation at WARP 2010.

Warm ''saludos'' from Bolivia,

Laverne

Hi Ludmilla,

WARP 2010 refers to the Annual Meeting of Weave A Real Peace which will be held April 30 to May 2, 2010 in Phoenix AZ at the Spirt in the Desert Retreat Center.  For more information about WARP see our web site at http://www.weavearealpeace.org/.  Judy Allen, WARP Administrative Coordinator

Hi

I'm not able to be active in this (I'm in an enclosed religious community) but I think WARP is a fantastic idea and am interested in what you do.  Is it oK just to read along?  The whole idea of 'weave a real peace' feels so right and my own weaving / spinning is part of a contemplative life which is maybe about peace starting right here.

Of course it's ok to read along.

It's a wonderful group of strong people. People who want to make a difference. People who realize that one small step at a time can bring on change.

We would love to have you come to our meetings.

We are a networking organization, and the main ways we fulfill that goal is through our elist, and our meetings. The meetings are incredible. Meeting WARP members face to face, discussing various projects we are involved with, is a wonderful experience. You come away from such a meeting with lots of ideas of how to go about doing more. If you've hit a plateau in your involvement in a project, you will come away rejuvenated.

I am currently a WARP board member. This is my 4th year on the board. It has been very rewarding.

WARP 2010 is our next annual meeting. (See details above.) In order to attend WARP meetings, you need to become a member of WARP.

The WARP board has been working on the programme for the meeting. It looks incredible so far.

Hi Deb,

i am very happy as i contacted one of the people in the Members' Directory and she will be in Bolivia from Oct to Dec and has invited me to go visit with her and her group of weavers. Also, Linda gave me the address of a coop in Sorata and I have an invitation not only to help out but also to learn to weave with them. Fantastic. I hope to learn a lot about the organization of these groups so perhaps I can start something over here on this side of the country.
