I thought I would capture it for this thread before it got all dog-eared from me rifling through it numerous times.

So, we are just over month anyone else thinking MS&W besides me?

Meet up - Woo Hoo!

Anyone staying for the 6 p.m. - 9.p.m. spin-in? I did that one year, and if you stick around long enough, eventually everyone wins a prize.

Weather: Rain on Friday, but do I dare believe it will be sunny and warm on Saturday and Sunday?

Unrest in Baltimore: I hope the situation simmers down soon, but for those who don't know, the fairgrounds and festival are nowhere near where the disturbances have been happening. The airport is also a distance away from downtown, so you shouldn't have to worry if you are flying into BWI.

For the first time, Inky and I will be in a "fixed location" for this event. You can find us in the Main Building, Booth D15 (HGA). If you don't know HGA, you might remember this booth from past years because they sell a big variety of textile-themed socks that fly off the racks. Think sheep, spinning wheels, flying shuttles! I didn't know this – so I will get a chance to witness it for myself this year.

Also, HGA will be selling the Convergence colorways JOY Tencel yarns + RedFish DyeWorks silks. I just took the JOY variegated workshop with my guild, so I have lost the intimidation factor when it comes to weaving a variegated with a variegated for spectacular results. Hey, if you need to reference a color wheel for ideas when buying your yarn, come find me, as I am always packing one! ;-)

My plan is to sport some of my guildmates handwoven socks, so although I am not much of a knitter, I hope to showcase some of their talents, too.

I better start packing.

Safe travels. See you there!

I've checked out the auction tent. There's a tools of the trade 4 shaft floor loom, and also a struct 240/4. Someone else will have to comment about the spinning equipment. Auction starts at 1 o'clock. Be sure to give a shout out to Jane! Aka Loomylady.

Since the creation of new forums is locked for now, I am reactivting last year's thread.

Let's hope next weekend is as nice as it was last year. Is everyone ready for the crowds?

Are you coming, and if so, where will you be?

I'll be there this year. Barn 3 - The Fold. Is there a meet-up this year? I've only gotten to one in all these years.

I think we just need to set a date and place. If the weather is nice, it can be outside anyplace. Rainy, and that makes it tougher.

Regardless, if you are vendor, I'll come find you and say Hi!

I'm hoping to make it on Saturday, I think.  Maybe Sunday.

I havent been doing too much in the way of weaving this year, too much work and too many back problems.  But I'll try and stop by if we have a meetup

I probably won't get there until Sunday afternoon.  If you've never gone to MSWF on Sunday, the parking is much better and the crowds thin out so you can actually see.  But the supplies of artisinal yarns (JOY, BWC, etc.) and foodstuffs will be depleted, and everyone may be a bit tired.  And keep in mind that the fiber arts show closes early (around 2:00 I think).

This will be the first year without The Mannings, but it looks like Yarn Barn is moving into the Manning's old space.  We'll have to see if they bring more yarn, books and notions to help fill the gap.

And definitely stop by the HGA booth to see Sally O.  She is a terrifically accomplished demonstrator.  It doesn't matter what's in her hand - inkle loom, card loom, drop spindle, lucet - I always learn something just by watching.

So, Sally, will you be sporting a new watch band?

No new watchband yet, it's just a matter of sewing it up!

The skein and garment competition was terrific, as always. Thanks to the Baltimore Guild for coordinating it and wo-maning it for the festival.

I finally unpacked my epic find from Saturday's auction, a Willow Tree 36" walnut rigid heddle/frame loom still in its original box and wrapped in newspapers from December of 1981.... all pieces are unwrapped and had a good rubdown with lemon oil, now to find out more about this old gem!

Thanks for posting pics, Sally. Honestly, as a vendor, I don't really get to see everything...too busy/tired... I had no idea some of those booths even existed. Have to be better about research!

If you look at the pic Sally posted above of our booth, notice the yellow plastic caged lights hanging from above? These are 60watt LED "daylight" bulbs that I got on sale at HomeDepot. They are amazingly bright and true to color. The bulbs only burn 9watts of energy and they don't get all! They were invaluable on Saturday at MSW since we had tarps up to block the rain and our booth, which is ALL about color, was too dark without them. Toni Neal from The Fold knew I was looking for better lighting for my studio so she let me "babysit" these lights until we head to Rhinebeck in October. My basement studio now has them strung up and the lighting is more than I had dreamed of in a basement...and they don't trip the circuit breaker!
