The Handweavers Guild of the New River Valley

The Handweavers Guild of the New River Valley has been providing weaving education in southwestern Virginia for about forty years.  We currently have over 60 members and meet once a month, usually the afternoon of the second Sunday, to exchange ideas and encouragement and to experience programs presented by our own members as well as visiting speakers.  At least twice a year we organize weekend workshops on different topics with skilled teachers from our region and across the country.  We support weavers at all levels of skill and try to inspire each other to do more and better.  Some of our members teach in our area.  We organize a sale of our products at one large regional craft show each Fall and members sell their woven goods at other craft fairs and in some shops.  A number of our members are juried into the sales gallery at Heartwood, the regional artisan center in Abingdon (, through the Round the Mountain network ( of artisans in various mediums.

This discussion group on Weavolution is for guild members only, but we invite those interested in our guild to come as visitors to a meeting and to join the guild.
