Contemporary Handweavers Of Houston
Contemporary Handweavers of Houston (CHH) is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting interest in handweaving, spinning and related textile arts.
CHH meets the third Thursday of the month, August through May, at CHH Guild House, located at the Chelsea Market on the Corner of Montrose and Hwy 59. The address is 4617 Montrose Blvd. Suite C213; Houston, TX 77006. We begin at 6:30 pm with 30 minutes of browsing books and videos from our library, and yarns and other goodies brought by vendors in the area. The business meeting begins at 7:30, followed by a program at 8:30, and show and tell by the members. Refreshments are provided by the members on a rotating basis.
CHH is a vibrant and active guild! We host workshops by local and international fiber artists usually twice a year. We now have a classroom space called Guild House with classes on a variety of weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting and other fiber related topics held regularly throughout the year.
The Contemporary Handweavers of Houston has an Annual Sale, featuring unique hand-crafted works. Items include table linens, stationary, bookmarks, baskets, ornaments, jewelry and wearable art. Styles range from homespun, to elegant, to fun and funky. Handspun and hand dyed yarn, buttons and other materials for the creative soul are also available.
