why is it that severalof us can not read the start post???

I know I have said ths before, but, as it still looks the same: several threads (discussions) start with a blank first post. Some ppl seem to be able to read it (can be deduced from the comments), but I can't. Does not matter whether I am logged in or not.

what am I doing wrong?

(you know, I really liked this community, even if  did not participate as much as I could have. Now, I am unhappy that so much seems to have got lost. I will try to remember this, so that I never upload anything I *might* want t ge back to later, in case it has gone away -  Of courde, I was never naive enought to upload a project w/o having the essntials backed up to my own computer, but sometimes I added comments spontaneously. *ALL* of these seems to have gone......  which feels a ...pity? ..PITA?)

Kerstin, hoping to be able to find this post tomorrow (otherwise I will re-post, as a "comment"...)

Inteeresting - can it be that just the poster (and som select few) can see the first post?

This is a copy of what I wrote:

I can see this post!  :-)  I also got sent a link to my e-mail account notifying me of this comment....not sure how that works?

Kerstin,

As we have said repeatedly, nothing has been lost. We do keep copious amounts of backups. The migration is a much longer process than we anticipated, but again we are but 2 people. The entire process is going to take a bit longer. As always we ask members to be positive with each other. Unfortunately, this post is to vague for us to act on, we always ask users to e-mail us with technical issues, including screenshots and specific links.  Please do e-mail us and let us know what exactly it is you need help figuring out. I'm truly sorry, but I just don't understand what you mean by start post.

Thanks!

Weavolutionary, the issue isn't about loss of past data.  These are new posts, after the change, that seem to be invisible except to the poster.  I think that's why there are so many posts that seem to be requests for help, but all I can see is a title.

Posted on Wed, 07/18/2018 - 07:57

I have given specific links in at least 2 cases.

Now, however, the problems seems to be that different members see different things. Just now BWSD and me have discivered hat we cannot see each other's first posts, while Lainey can see (at least) mine.

Therefore, it may be that specific links is not enough. I will try to attach some screenshots (cropped): 5 examples, where 4 are of new threads (written herre) and the fifth of an old hread. (Most old threads, if there, seem to work, though)

what I mean is that several existing groups have no content at all (ok, we will wait), but also that some groups have a very odd content.

This group, for instance: this is what I see

The first three titles are new

The "Changing warp..." is a conversation from 2015.

The "Identify..." is from 2013 (and all pictures gone)

"Price this.." also from 2013

"My dress.." 2013

"Happy holidays..." 2012

"Spring cleaning.." 2012

"Weaving resolutions..." started in 2011, ended in 2012

This makes it look like there was only one (total) thread in 2015 (and not even one in 2016-2017); nothing at all happened in 2014; 3 total threads in 2013 and 3 in 2012.

This is not at all how I remember it.

Kerstin,

To further help us trouble shoot, please send the link to the post from your Screenshots. We also need to know if this is from  computer or mobile device, operating system, and browser you use.

Thank you,

Erica

Ok.

I am using a laptop from Dell, model Inspiron 15 (from thee 3000 series). The operating system is Windows 10, and my preferred browser is Firefox (currently “Quantum” version 61.0.1)

I have a fibre connexion, using a Netgear58 router to access internet wireless. Usually, the downways sped is about 70-80 Mbits/s, when on wireless.

I will go through the list as seen on https://www.weavolution.com/tracker (which I access from https://www.weavolution.com/ via the menu option Community -> Feed)

By clicking on “reassembling HD loom” I arrive at https://www.weavolution.com/group/harrisville-designs-looms/reassembling-hd-loom

As I hope you can see, there is no text, question, picture… the only thing I am invited to do is add new comment. The thread is a new one.

Same procedure for “what size reed” - https://www.weavolution.com/group/rug-weavers/what-size-reed

Again no text, also new thread.

Next entry – bexell j45… - https://www.weavolution.com/group/countermarche-and-beyond/bexell-j45-and-k45-question

I can’t see any text before the first comment, which is written by Lou, the original poster. In that comment she writes:

“ I am reposting my original comment because it seems some have trouble reading the first post. I just purchased a Bexell Cranbrook and the serial number plate shows that it is a K45, not a J45 which I am used to seeing. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two?

Thanks!”

(thread also new)

Back to list: avl warping wheel vs warping reel – clicking takes me to https://www.weavolution.com/group/avl/avl-warping-wheel-vs-warping-reel

No “original post” text, BUT: first comment from Deb shows that something *was* posted, but that I can’t see it. Deb writes:
“I had my doubts also.  But a friend loaned me her AVL Warping Wheel which had a cross maker and that 3 month loan sealed the deal for me. “  (there is more)

New thread.

Continuing, the identify loom q at https://www.weavolution.com/group/can-anyone-identify-loom

By reading BWSD’s answer (1:st comment), which reads:
“I am logged into this site, but this post appears to me to have no content.  That appears to be a reoccuring theme.  If you want answers to your questions, you have to post them as comments.”

I was sure it was not something only I did wrong (to not being able to see the OP), but rather that there were at least 2 of us who could not. New thread.

Your own post, completion celebrations, at https://www.weavolution.com/group/jones-house/completion-celebrations

is the next entry that I can not see any text in. Thread is new.

Next, BarbaraV, at https://www.weavolution.com/group/countermarche-and-beyond/barbara-v-loom-thought-products

has my own comment as first “seeable” text. New thread.

Next entry again, the  weave-learning twill dw blanket (https://www.weavolution.com/group/weave-fail/weave-learning-twill-doubleweave-blanket-15497 ) is interesting, as that thread was initiated in 2010 – but I still can not see any original post/question.

The tenth example, daily checkin July, https://www.weavolution.com/group/daily-weaverliness/daily-check-july-2018 also is a new thread. It is of course possible that the first post *was* empty, but (as I recollect) Endorph usually has some text, at least.

All of the above examples show group discussion threads where I can not see the original text. (If you want, I can continue adding examples, but maybe 10 are enough?)

I have omitted some group discussion threads (like Gilmore info needed and Mushy treadling). Both those threads are old, and I *can* see the whole thread, first post and all.

I will only mention two classified ads.

First, https://www.weavolution.com/classified-ads/louet-klik-40-11-shafts because the poster says she had text which disappeared

The second is https://www.weavolution.com/classified-ads/27-glimakra-pysslingen-table-loom The poster does not mention if s/he did write something from the beginning, but on comment no1 comes the whole description.

I suppose I should mention the project, too: snowflake scarves at https://www.weavolution.com/project/susanbh/snowflake-scarves

The pictures show other projects (by susanbh), but there is no pic for the snowflakes.

The project is from the old site, and has no link to a draft. However, in a comment posted on Sat, 12/31/2016 - 19:35, Susanbh writes “The draft is linked above, check it out.  It came from messing around in FiberWorks.  How fortunate we are to have weaving software!”

If I click on the other pics, I get redirected to the other projects – all show the same three thumbnail size pictures. (Yes, I remember we should wait for the pictures, but why import only thumbnails? And the draft links, what about them?

(sorry, old thread-friends, but I don't understand how to communcate w webmaster - I keep getting msgs here that I shold e-mail instead - but when I do, I get answered here... so I thought it best to do both)

(incidentally, I find it counterintuitive that I have to "remove" one picturetobe able to add another, while both still are there. Is there a help section I havent found?)

This msg will be posted to the thread on Weavo, but also e-mailed directly to [email protected]. That is because I have not got any answers from webmaster in the  last (longish) time.

Under the title of my project pages I keep seeing this message in multiples.

Notice: Undefined index: unit_suggesters_settings in mvf_unit_suggesters_info() (line 1635 of /home/weavol5/d7/public_html/sites/all/modules/fivestar/mvf/mvf.module).

It looks like comments and notes are missing and project photos of older projects. I also think photos added in later comments on the project are gone to. There should be a fairly extensive project page on doup leno for instance.
I also see in posts at the bottom to the right of the reply button some odd icons that look like trash cans with 0's between.

edit: I see other icons now that I assume were intended.  But if I go out of the forum and come back they are trashcans.

Reading this Aug 2,  2018, 3 PM PDT.  I am using Safari on an iPad.  I could not see the original post, just the comments.  However, all but two of Kerstin's screenshots are blank.  I agree that most items for sale had no text or partial text, but I only looked at a few.  All groups I looked at had no content.  I'm not a regular user of Weavolution.  I think I’ll go away again until I hear that you have it sorted out.

Posted on Thu, 08/02/2018 - 23:56

I'm checking this out now on my PC with IE that several peopel have said won't work..  I see exactly the same things I could see with Safari - and the same things are missing - still no oiriginal post.  And some of Kerstin's photos/screen grabs are missin but not all.

The classified ads issue should be fixed. The Group Post issue is eluding me as it seems specific to only a few browsers. I would ask everyone who is having this issue to clear the cache on their devices and see if that works.

Posted on Mon, 08/13/2018 - 15:31

I think I fixed the group post issue as well! Please cross your fingers, check to see if the issue is fixed, and let me know.

Thank you for your patience!
