shafts lifting when not on peg plan

I am using a "threading .wif" to control the shafts while I'm threading, so that it instructs the dobby to lift one shaft at a time.  It's a summer and winter on 16 shafts.

however

shaft 6 keeps coming up on all lifts.

the adjacent shafts to whatever shafts I am threading from about 9 on keep coming up.

also, the first shaft raises with the "pattern" shaft.

I'm waiting to see if this happens during weaving.  It could just be a bug in the raising of one shaft at a time, but this should't be happening, I think.

any ideas?

thanks, nancy c

I've had problems with the back shafts (#32-40-ish) coming up on some of my .wif weavings as well.  Since they weren't really affecting or bothering the first 15 shafts, I just lived with it, but it would really be nice if one could get the CD3 not to do that.  There doesn't seem to be a way to troubleshoot the problem while weaving either since the cover is on the box.

The best way to troubleshoot is to remove the dobby box, then slide a magnet up and down over the sensors so it thinks you're treadling the loom.  That way you can see the solenoids firing and can tell whether it's a dobby box problem or something else.  That's what I did to test out my AVL WDL.

I should add that if it persists, you can send it back to AVL - I had problems with three solenoids (or so I thought) and sent it back to AVL.  It turned out that the problem was not with the solenoids but with the solenoid rods! which they replaced, and it seems to be working fine now.

I'd get in touch with AVL and have them help you troubleshoot - they are very friendly and give excellent service.
